Gardaí object to bail for duo accused of failed robbery of Dublin petrol station

Gardaí have objected to bail for two people accused of trying to rob a petrol station in Dublin last night.

They were arrested after two masked raiders threatened staff with knives before leaving empty handed.

The attempted robbery happened at a filling station on Usher Quay at around 9pm.

Two raiders wearing balaclavas burst into the shop attached to the forecourt and threatened staff with knives.

They ordered the workers to hand over some money but left empty handed shortly afterwards.

Gardaí were alerted and a man and woman were arrested on Thomas Street not long after the botched raid.

John Paul Lennon of St. Patrick's Park, Rialto and Danielle Kane of Mount Brown, Inchicore appeared in court today.

The duo, who are both in their 30s, are charged with attempted theft and possession of a knife.

Gardaí objected to bail on a number of grounds and a bail hearing is due to get underway shortly.
