Status Orange weather warning issued for some places tomorrow

Met Éireann is upgrading its weather alerts for parts of the country tomorrow to status Orange.

A status yellow wind warning for Ireland is already in place.

Met Éireann is warning of winds of up to 55 kilometres an hour and gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour.

There is also a status yellow rainfall warning for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry - where rainfall of up to 50 milimetres is likely.

Met Éireann forecaster Evelyn Cusack says conditions will get worse overnight: “The heavy rain we have at the moment will clear up somewhat this afternoon, but it is going to stay very windy for the afternoon, the winds are easing down a little bit this evening,

“But the gails will be back overnight and tomorrow and it could be quite stormy tomorrow morning so at the moment we have status yellow warnings of wind and rain in operation and we will be updating this to status orange for some places tomorrow morning.”
