The MacGillycuddy Reeks Mountain Access Forum have confirmed that they intend to re-erect the Carrauntoohil Cross after it was recently found cut down.
The group, which includes represtatives from community and business groups, landowners, NPWS, Kerry County Council and the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, confirmed the move after a meeting was held on the issue.
The cross, originally erected on on top of Ireland's highest mountain by Beaufort Community Council and local landowners in 1976,
