Life-saving equipment returned to Dublin Fire Brigade; Appeal renewed for other stolen device
Dublin Fire Brigade says some of its life-saving equipment stolen from a pub in Cabra has been returned.
The rescue saw was handed into Phibsborough Fire Station this afternoon.
It's still missing another device, which was robbed as paramedics helped someone having a heart attack at the weekend.
At lunchtime a tradesman contacted us to say that he had been offered the DeWalt rescue saw. After some persuasion, they convinced the "seller" to hand it over and subsequently dropped it back to Phibsborough Station. Dublin's Lord Mayor, Nial Ring, is asking whoever took it to give the rest of it back.
"I would appeal to the people, as Lord Mayor of Dublin, please give back that life-saving equipment," he said.
"If you have a heart attack in Dublin, it's the second safest city in the world after Seattle because of the quality of our equipment and, more importantly, the quality of our senior paramedics."
Dublin Fire Brigade is appealing for the public's help in finding equipment stolen from an ambulance.
Paramedics were treating a person for a cardiac arrest in a Cabra pub when the theft of the two life-saving devices happened.
They have shared a photo on Twitter and are asking people to contact them if they think they can help locate the equipment.
