Government withholding €7m in funds from Goal

The Government is withholding more than €7m worth of funding from aid agency Goal.

It comes after a US-led investigation was announced in April into corruption among aid programmes providing relief in Syria.

Up to 25 aid agencies are thought to be under investigation.

The US government has also suspended more than €6m in funding to the Irish charity.

Goal said it is doing its best to maintain operations despite funding being withheld.
