Officers from Revenue's Customs Service seized more than 10.3m cigarettes with a retail value of more than €4.7m over the weekend at Dublin Port, it was revealed today.

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service seized more than 10.3m cigarettes with a retail value of more than €4.7m over the weekend at Dublin Port, it was revealed today.

Revenue’s mobile scanner revealed the 'Don Corleone' brand cigarettes concealed in a 40 foot container which had arrived into Dublin Port from Belgium.

The cigarettes were described on the manifest as "paper handkerchiefs".

Investigations are ongoing.
