A man in his 20s has been killed in a crash in County Galway in the early hours of this morning.

A man in his 20s has been killed in a crash in County Galway in the early hours of this morning.

The single vehicle collision occurred at 2:45am on the N65 Loughrea to Killimor Rd at Coolagh when the car collided with a concrete barrier.

The 26-year-old male driver of the car was seriously injured in the crash and taken to University College Hospital Galway.

He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Nobody else was involved.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí in Ballinasloe are appealing for witnesses.
