A man is described as being in a critical condition in hospital following a single-vehicle collision at around 11.30am today.

A man is described as being in a critical condition in hospital following a single-vehicle collision at around 11.30am today.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee (pictured) following the incident in the Glencar area.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the accident and a technical examination is underway.

Killarney gardaí have advised motorists that the road between Climber’s Inn Bar and Gortmalloon is closed on both sides to traffic.

A traffic diversion is expected to remain in place until later this evening.
