Crew members of the LE James Joyce have been reunited with their families after a 12-week rescue mission in the Mediterranean.
59-crew members were part of the operation, that rescued over 2,400 people, and also recovered the remains of 21 migrants who had been attempting to reach mainland Europe.
Speaking to Cork's 96FM Captain Neil Manning says the most challenging part was being away from home for so long.
"It's just being away, you know, everything else falls into place.
"We're very well trained, we're very competent doing the mission, so I think it's missing the families."
