Man charged with murder at wedding in Co Fermanagh
A second man has been charged with shooting dead a grandfather outside a family wedding.
Bernard McGinley was shot close to a church in rural Co Fermanagh moments before the Traveller wedding was due to start last month.
The 63-year-old, from Co Longford, was gunned down in front of his wife Brigid on the road outside St Mary’s Catholic church in the village of Newtownbutler.
The man, aged in his 20s, was charged tonight with murder. He is also charged with the attempted murder of Mr McGinley’s son.
A nephew of Mr McGinley has already appeared in court charged with the murder.
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Detective Chief Inspector Una Jennings said: “Our thoughts and sympathy continue to remain with the McGinley family at this time.”
The latest man charged will appear in court in Omagh, Co Tyrone tomorrow.
The wedding ceremony was delayed for a short period after the shooting but then went ahead.
Mr McGinley was flown to hospital from Lisnaskea in a police helicopter but died later.
