Gardaí have charged a man in connection with a robbery in Dublin yesterday.

Two men, one armed with a gun, asaulted a male member of staff at the entrance of a convenience shop at Neilstown, Dublin 22, at 7am yesterday.

They fled the scene on foot with cigarettes and alcohol.

Shortly afterwards, Gardaí arrested a man close to the scene of the robbery and then found a firearm, a baton, cigarettes and alcohol in a follow-up search.

He is being held at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The 44-year-old man is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court, tomorrow morning.

A second man remains at large.

The injured shop worker was taken to Tallaght Hospital with minor injuries.
