There has been an arson attack on a pensioner's home in Derry.

Arson attack on woman's home in Derry

There has been an arson attack on a pensioner's home in Derry.

It happened in the Camelia Court area just before 6pm this evening.

It was reported that some form of flammable liquid had been poured through the letterbox of the house and set on fire.

The 70-year-old female occupant was able to extinguish the fire which caused scorch damage to the door.

Police who were called to the scene had missiles thrown at them by youths.

The rear screen of a police vehicle was smashed.
