Several homes have been evacuated and a housing estate sealed off in Limerick as the army bomb disposal team deals with a suspicious device.

Experts were called in shortly before 9pm this evening after an object was found in the residential area of Cullinagh in Newcastle West.

There are no reports of damage and it is not yet known what type of device the army have encountered.
