A man in his 40's is recovering in hospital following an assault in Youghal town.

A man in his 40's is recovering in hospital following an assault in Youghal town.

It is understood he was attacked at Meat Shambles Lane in the town at around 2.40pm.

The victim was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which aren't thought to be life threatening.

No arrests were made, Gardaí in East Cork are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
