400,000 cigarettes were seized at Dublin Port yesterday.

The cigarettes were concealed within pallets of paving bricks and were discovered, as a result of routine profiling.

The 20 foot container that had arrived into Dublin Port from Armenia was selected for scanning and the cigarettes were found.

The cigarettes branded “L&M Soft Plus” have a retail value of €212,698, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €167,876.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy.

Investigations are ongoing.
