Kenny defends decision to split Dept of Environment

Enda Kenny has defended the decision to split the Department of the Environment into two.

The Taoiseach has said the reorganisation of departments will actually improve Ireland's approach to dealing with climate policy.

The Environment brief was split in two when the new cabinet was formed, with climate change matters taken over by the Department of Communications.

The Taoiseach has said this "will give environment policy the full attention and resources of a single department."
