A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in north county Louth.

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in north county Louth.

The single vehicle incident happened at Ballyoonan, Omeath.

It occured on the Carlingford side of the former Táin holiday village ay around 5pm.

The man, who was the driver of the car, is said to be in a serious condition in hospital in Newry tonight.

Gardaí have said the Carlingford Omeath Road will remain closed overnight.
