Two men have been arrested after firearms were seized in north Dublin today.

The arrests were part of an intelligence led operation by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, assisted by the Emergency Response Unit and national units.

One of the men was taken into custody after a car was stopped and searched on Clonshaugh Avenue in Coolock, where Gardaí seized two firearms and arrested the driver.

At the same time, a van was stopped on Clonshaugh Road and the second man was arrested.

The two men, aged 39 and 44, are being questioned at Coolock Garda Station, where they can be held for up to three days.
