A 69-year-old man has died in a house fire in Co Sligo.

Man dies in Sligo house fire

A 69-year-old man has died in a house fire in Co Sligo.

The man was found dead at his home at Ballyconnell in Maugherow in North Sligo after the fire service were called to the scene at 7.20am.

It is understood the fire had started some hours previously.

A forensic examination of the scene has now been completed and the man's body has been removed to Sligo Regional Hospital.
