Community in shock as two die in farm accident

A Health and Safety Authority investigation is due to begin in Co Donegal after two people died in a farm accident yesterday.

The men, who were both aged 52, have been named locally as Kevin Woods and Seamus Hegarty.

The incident happened at around 6.20pm yesterday evening, in the Crossroads area of Killygordan - between Ballybofey and Strabane - when it is understood the men were working on a tractor tyre when it exploded.

Ambulances were dispatched, but both men were pronounced dead. Their bodies were removed to Letterkenny General Hospital where it is understood post-mortem examinations will take place later.

Local Independent Councillor Frank McBrearty says the entire community is shocked by the news

The area remains sealed off this morning while the Health and Safety Authority carry out an investigation.
