A man has been arrested after an attempted robbery at a Post Office in Dublin.

A man has been arrested after an attempted robbery at a Post Office in Dublin.

A number of men, at least one carrying a gun, entered the Post Office in Baldoyle and threatened staff just before 1pm today.

They left without any money and got into a waiting car.

No one was injured in the incident and no shots were fired.

Gardaí were called and a man, aged 43, was arrested a short time later in Portmarnock.

The getaway car, a 08 OY, black BMW 1 series, was last seen on Station Rd in Portmarnock.

The arrested man is being detained at Coolock Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended, and Gardaí have asked witnesses to contact them on 01 6664200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
