The Tánaiste said today that she doesn't think there was any winner in last night's leaders debate.

Some commentators have stated that Micheál Martin appeared to deliver the strongest performance in the Newstalk/TV3 debate.

However, Joan Burton insisted that there was not a clear winner, and praised the moderators Collette Fitzpatrick and Pat Kenny.

"I don't think there was any particular winner," she said.

"Already talking to people in Cork today, I got a lot of compliments in relation to my own contribution.

"I think women were delighted to see a women in the debate and also to see a woman presenter moderating the debate, along with Pat Kenny.

"Collette Fitzpatrick I think did a very good job, they both did a very good job."
