A number of dogs stolen from a pet farm in Co Kerry have been recovered after gardaí raided a premises in Co Cork.

A number of dogs stolen from a pet farm in Co Kerry have been recovered after gardaí raided a premises in Co Cork.

A number of dogs stolen from Kennedy’s Pet Farm near Killarney in the early hours of Saturday morning were recovered from a premises at Ballyhandle, Crossbarry, Co Cork on Monday evening by gardaí acting on information.

"During the search a number of animals were recovered including four Shih Tzu pups, three 'pug' dogs, a Yorkshire/Chihuahua cross, and one Golden Retriever," a garda statement said.

Killarney detectives searched the property and recovered the pugs, Phoebe, Brad and Lola, the chihuahua, Ruby, and four weanling puppies all snatched from Kennedy’s Pet Farm.

"A number of other items were also recovered in the search including tools and electrical "equipment.

"A huge huge thank you to everyone especially the gaurds they have been fantastic," said a statement posted on the farm's Facebook page.

"We will never be able to repay the public for their kindness and help ye were amazing. We are elated with happiness. All dogs are ok just delighted to see us and us them."

A number of birds also stolen from the farm at the weekend, including hens and showcase pheasents, remain missing.

No arrests were made.
