A young male has been killed in a road accident in Co Limerick today.

A young male has been killed in a road accident in Co Limerick today.

It is believed the 17-year-old was travelling on a quad bike when his vehicle and a tractor with hedge-cutting machinery were in collision .

The accident occurred at approximately 1.45pm on the R507 Oola to Doon Road (approximately three miles from Oola) in Co Limerick.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Mid Western Hospital in Limerick.

The tractor driver was not injured.

Gardaí said the investigation into the incident is at early stages and that forensic collision investigators are travelling to the scene.

Traffic diversions are in place.

The name of the teenager, who is from East Limerick, has not yet been released.
