Officers arrest man after confiscating €160k

A man has been arrested at Dublin Port after a crackdown by criminal assets officers.

On Monday, more than €160,000 was confiscated from the man in his 40s as he was about to board a ferry to Holyhead.

A three-month detention order has been granted to carry out further investigations.

Earlier today, thousands of cigarettes were seized by Revenue when an apartment was searched in the North inner city.

Hundreds of boxes, including Marlboro and Golden Eagle, were among the find which is believed to be worth more than €2,000 to the Exchequer.
