A deal on public sector pay talks may be just hours away with a draft agreement being worked on tonight.
Under the plan public sector workers could see their pay increase by as much as €1,000 next year.
But Government sources say the proposal would see the Haddington Road Agreement extended for a further two years.
It is understood that the offer to public servants is approximately €1,000 next year and a similar amount in 2017.
This would be done mainly through a reversal of some of the public sector pension levy imposed during the crisis.
An actual pay increase is also on the table for low paid staff in the public service.
But in return there would be an effective two year extension to the Haddington Road Agreement which is due to expire next year.
This would commit staff to solving disputes through binding arbitration rather than strike, and would also demand further reforms in work practices.
