Revenue officers have seized 445 litres of alcohol and 2,680 cigarettes at Dublin Port.

Revenue officers have seized 445 litres of alcohol and 2,680 cigarettes at Dublin Port.

The contraband was discovered on Saturday following the search a van which had come off a ferry from Holyhead.

Officers said the van was driven by a Romanian national living in Ireland.

The estimated retail value of the all the goods is €8,700, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €5,100.
