A mother and son have died following a single-vehicle crash in Galway last night.

A mother and son have died following a single-vehicle crash in Galway last night.

The woman in her 30s and her 14-year-old son were fatally injured when the car they were travelling in struck a tree in Ballygar at around 9.45pm.

They were the only occupants of the car. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their bodies were taken to University Hospital Galway where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
