A land and sea search will continue in Co Clare today in the hopes of locating a missing Japanese couple.

Gardaí say they are pursuing all lines of inquiry in the case.

Sixty-three-year-old Eiji Takagi and 61-year-old Ushio Azaki checked out of their hotel in Spanish Point last Saturday morning.

Their car - a red 151 Hyundai - has since been found in Kilkee, but neither of the two have been located. There have been shoreline and boat searches since.

Operations Manager of the Irish Coastguard Gerard O'Flynn said: "Their hired car was noticed in a local car park last weekend. There has been no new information since."
