The robbery took place at a shop in Neilstown, Dublin 22, just before 7am this morning when two men, one armed with a gun, approached a male member of staff at the entrance of the shop.

He is being held at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The second man remains at large.

Gardaí also found a firearm, a baton, cigarettes and alcohol in a follow-up search.

The injured staff member has been taken to Tallaght Hospital with minor injuries and the scene has been preserved for a forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Ronanstown Garda station on 01 6667700 The Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
