Gardaí are investigating after a 33-year-old man was killed in a collision in east Cork this morning.

Gardaí are investigating after a 33-year-old man was killed in a collision in east Cork this morning.

The male pedestrian was struck by a car on the N25 on the Cork side of Castlemartyr at approximately 5.15am.

He was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he later passed away.

The identity of the man has not been confirmed, but it is understood he hailed from the Tulla area of east Clare.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Witnesses are being asked to contact Midleton garda station on 021- 4621550.
