One man has been arrested after an armed robbery at a house on Catherdral Road in Armagh.

At around 10.35am three masked men forced their way into the house armed with knives and firearms.

The gang made off with prescription tablets and two cars - a blue Toyota Avensis and green Citroen C2.

Three people were in the house at the time - two men aged 53 and 26, and a 22-year-old woman - however nobody was injured.

Police set up a vehicle check point to intercept the Toyota, which crashed in the attempt to get away.

One male made off from the car and a 25-year-old man was arrested.
