A 43-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Jason Doogue at a special sitting of Naas District Court.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Jason Doogue at a special sitting of Naas District Court.

The man from Athy in Co Kildare was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday.

Twenty-two-year-old Doogue was shot a number of times last Friday in the Greenhills area of Athy and later died from his injuries.

Since the attack, gardaí have arrested a number of people. Of those, three people - two men and one woman - remain in Garda custody.
