Best friends win Lotto prize after playing religiously together for 30 years

Two lifelong friends' dream came through today when they collected their Lotto winnings.

The excitied pair won the Match 5 plus bonus prize of €65,718 on Saturday's draw.

One of the ladies said it has been one of their lifetime ambitions.

"For almost 30 years we have dreamed of winning the Lotto together so it's great to be finally here in the winners’ room. It’s not the jackpot prize but it’s the next best thing," she said.

"We've been playing Lotto religiously together for nearly three decaded and we've always dreamed about winning a top price.

"The win is made that much sweeter knowing that I’ve won with my best friend.

"I checked the numbers on Aertel on Saturday evening and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. We spent the entire weekend checking the ticket and we didn’t believe we had won until we received confirmation on Monday morning.”

When asked what they would spend their winnings on, the duo said they would be sharing with friends and family.

“It may not sound like a life-changing sum of money to win but we’ll certainly put it to good use.

"We will be dividing the win among children and grandchildren but we’ll make sure that we get some enjoyment out of it ourselves.

"We’re going to have all of our family and friends together in the next few days so we can celebrate in style."

The lucky pair purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Mannion’s Newsagent in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on the day of the draw.
