Greyhound workers to continue protest if latest deal rejected by ballot

Striking workers at Greyhound Recycling in Clondalkin say they will continue their protest if workers decide to reject the latest cost-saving proposals.

A new deal was hammered out between staff and management at the waste management company last night and workers will be balloted on these new cost saving measures tomorrow.

Over 70 Greyhound staff say they've been locked out of their jobs since June 17, when they refused to accept pay cuts of up to 35%, implemented by the waste management company.

"I wouldn't interfere in any man's vote," said workers' spokesman Ray Reilly.

"It will be completely up to (each worker) himself.

"If they are not happy with the deal, vote against it, simple as that."
