Polls spell bad news for SF and Adams

There is bad news for Sinn Féin in two political opinions polls this evening.

A poll in the Sunday Business Post shows Sinn Féin support down three points, while another shows Gerry Adams' personal support down 7%, in the wake of the Máiria Cahill allegations.

The Sunday Business Post poll, taken between Monday and Wednesday, shows Sinn Féin at 20%, down three since the last similar poll in mid-September.

That shows Fine Gael still ahead, down 2% to 26%, with independents and others gaining all five points to 28%.

In that poll Fianna Fáil are unchanged on 18%, while Labour stay on 8%.

In the Sunday Times poll there is more bad news for Gerry Adams, whose personal satisfaction rate is down seven points since August, to 40%.

But that still keeps him only a point behind the most popular leader, Labour's Joan Burton.

In that poll Sinn Féin is unchanged on 19%, as is Fianna Fail on 18%, while Labour loses the Burton Bounce and falls five points to 9%.

Fine Gael is up one to 25%, while independents and others gain four to 28%.
