Last month was warmest June for 19 years

Surprising as it may sound, last month was the warmest June we have had in 19 years.

It was also the driest in 40 years with low rainfall recorded in most areas.

Tuesday of this week, which was the last day of the month, was the warmest day of the year so far with temperatures in Dublin reaching 26 degrees.

The lowest mean air temperature was 11.7 degrees which was recorded at both Knock Airport in Co Mayo and at Malin Head in Donegal.

The number of days with ground frost ranged from zero at numerous locations to six at Dublin Airport.

That is the highest number of days with ground frost during June since the station opened in 1942.
