Oireachtas committee meeting on Shannon Airport use by USA

The use of Shannon Airport by the United States and how it impacts on Ireland's neutrality will be at the forefront of discussions in Limerick this morning.

A delegation from the Oireachtas Petitions committee will meet with The Shannon Airport Authority, local Gardaí and Shannonwatch campaigners.

The series of meetings will assist the Committee in following up the controversial issue.

Chairman, Sinn Fein's Padraig MacLochlainn outlines what the next step will be.

"We're getting close now to the stage where we'll finalise our deliberations, obviously put together a report for Government - we've already had a response from the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the assertions made by Shannonwatch.

He said the group would issue recommendations and follow up with Government on them.
