A 28-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in Co Limerick.

A 28-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in Co Limerick.

The crash between a car and a truck happened at Cooga Cross on the main Doon to Cappamore Rd at around 3.30pm today.

The male driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was seriously injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at Limerick Regional Hospital for a post mortem.

The road is closed pending a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Cappamore garda station.
