A man is being questioned after almost €300,000 worth of heroin was seized in South Dublin this afternoon.

A man is being questioned after almost €300,000 worth of heroin was seized in South Dublin this afternoon.

Gardaí stopped and searched a car on Sandymount Road and discovered heroin worth €140,000.

A 32-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl who were in the car were arrested and taken to Blackrock Garda station for questioning.

During a follow up search of a house at Ballyogan Green in Carrickmines heroin worth €140,000 was also discovered.

The girl has since been released and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

However, the man remains in Garda Custody.
