A man from Dublin has been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison in the UK for racially abusing ex-Manchester United striker Andy Cole on a flight.
28-year-old Lee Byrne of Corduff Park in Blanchardstown was drunk when he called Cole 'Mr Blackman' and a 'spook' while on an Air Lingus flight from Dublin to Manchester on December 29 last year.
He appeared before Minshull Street Crown Court earlier where he was also handed a 20-week sentence for being drunk on a plane, which will run concurrently.
He pleaded guilty to both charges.
A second Dublin man - 26-year-old Gregory Horan of Sycamore View in Castleknock - will serve 10 weeks in prison for being drunk on a plane, which he also pleaded guilty to.
