High Court quashes corruption findings against Redmond

All findings of corruption made by the planning tribunal against former assistant Dublin City and County Manager George Redmond have been quashed.

Mr Redmond went to the High Court seeking orders including a quashing of the finding that he had hindered and obstructed the tribunal.

However, the case was struck out after lawyers for the tribunal agreed to the requests sought by the former official.

Patricia Dillon, barrister for the inquiry, told the court that its third interim report would be taken down from the website in a couple of hours before being put back in redacted form.

Speaking afterwards Mr Redmond, now in his 90s, said his battle had been going on a long time and has had a huge effect on his family.

He said coming close to Christmas was an appropriate time for good news.
