Taoiseach says Sinn Féin are not fit for Government

The Taoiseach has said Sinn Féin are not fit for Government and would put the security of the State at risk.

It is after Gerry Adams again called for the abolition of the Special Criminal Court and for it to be replaced with a witness protection scheme.

Speaking in Ballina, Enda Kenny was asked if Sinn Féin were fit for Government: “They’re not and I think it is outrageous...What is at stake here is the security of our state.

“Sinn Féin want the Special Criminal Court abolished, I have just spoken to the Minister for Justice, the situation is that the administrative work is now being completed in setting up a second Criminal Court.

“And the reason for that is there has been gross intimidation of juries and witnesses.”
