There has been a rise in support for the Government parties, according to the latest opinion poll.

The Red C poll for tomorrow’s Sunday Business Post shows the Coalition parties gaining five percentage points between them.

The feelgood factor after last weekend’s referendum appears to have benefitted both parties - with Fine Gael up three points to 28%, its highest support levels in eight months.

There is also good news for Labour, which is up 2 points to 10% - level with the highest rating Joan Burton has managed since taking over leadership of the party.

Fianna Fáil is unchanged on 19%. The poll of just over 1,000 adults between Monday and Wednesday of this week, in the aftermath of Averil Power’s resignation.

Support for Sinn Féín is down one point to 21%.

The Greens have gained two points to 3%, while Renua are unchanged on 1%.

Independents have lost support, registering 18%, a decline of six percentage points in five weeks.
