Jobseekers 'often forget to include all their skills on CV'

Improving your CV should improve your chances of getting a job, say the organisers of this year's 'Skills for Work Week'.

Organisers say jobseekers often forget to show off their strengths to prospective employers.

There are currently more than 50,000 young people signing on in this country and the week is the latest effort by the Department of Social Protection to tackle the problem.

A deal with the grocery industry means that more than 1,000 welfare recipients will be offered workplace tips from the bosses of brands like Coca-Cola and Kellogg's.

Declan Carolan, the general manager of business group ECR Ireland who are helping to run the week, said: "I would concentrate on your CV, concentrate on all the skills that you have - even if they include playing musical instruments, being part of teams - they all count, they all help.

"And keep trying, keep that confidence high and keep trying."
