Three young men have been hospitalised after a serious car crash in Co Kildare.

The single-car collision happened on the Kilteel Road at Old Miltown at around 10.50pm last night.

The 21-year-old backseat passenger was taken to Beaumont hospital and is said to be in a very serious condition.

The driver and another passenger - both aged 24 - were taken to Naas General Hospital where their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road is closed for a garda examination with diversions in place at Cromwellstown crossroads and the junction at Oldmill in Kill.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Naas Garda Station.
