SF: Syriza election significant for Ireland

Sinn Féin's finance spokesperson says the Greek election results are significant for Ireland.

Pearse Doherty says Syriza's victory could be a landmark moment in ending austerity across the Eurozone.

He said: "Greece is different - indeed Syriza is very different; it's an alliance, they will face major challenges in government - there is no doubt about it.

"There are big challenges, they will have to be disciplined, they will have to stick together, they will have to be resolute in their demands.

"The key hope here is that others in Europe who support this concept will come to their support, and that that momentum that was created last night will grow and grow right across Europe."
