Two people have died in house fires in Dublin and Kilkenny.

Two people have died in house fires in Dublin and Kilkenny.

Emergency services are at the scene of a blaze in Stoneybatter in Dublin this evening on the Sigurd Road.

A man aged 53 was removed from the scene but was pronounced dead in the last hour at the Mater Hospital.

It is understood that an elderly woman has been seriously injured in the fire.

While earlier today in Castlecomer a man in his 90s lost his life in a house fire.
