Body of missing Sligo man found in Stockholm

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family of a Sligo man, whose body has been found in Sweden.

Brian Farrell, 32, from Culleens, Co Sligo, had been missing since Monday, November 10.

His body was found yesterday in water off Stockholm's old town, Gamla Stan.

Mr Farrell had been working in the Swedish capital.

His family thanked the public and the Irish Embassy for their help during the search.

"We, Brian’s family and his fiancé Lorraine, would like to thank the rescue services who recovered his remains, Missing People Sweden, his employers ICDS Construction and his workmates in Stockholm," their statement read.

"We thank everyone who posted messages of support on social media as we searched for him, and also those who remembered Brian in their prayers."
