Dublin man rescued from river after jumping in to save his dog

A man and his dog have been rescued from the Tolka River at Fairview in Dublin this morning after he jumped in to save his pet.

A man and his dog have been rescued from the Tolka River at Fairview in Dublin this morning after he jumped in to save his pet.

Six fire crews and an ambulance attended the scene after the man got in to difficulty while rescuing his dog who had jumped in to chase swans.

The owner is being treated for shock and the dog has survived also.
